The ROBIN project, through its partner CTA, has coordinated this week, together with other three European projects (BIOTRANSFORM, ShapingBIO and BIOMODEL4REGIONS), the online event “BioFUTURE – Knowledge sharing for unlocking the potential of bio-economy in Europe from the regional policy perspective“, with over 85 attendees from the quadruple helix.
The event featured the prominent participation of two representatives from the European Commission:
- Sarianne Tikkanen (EC, DG Environment), who spoke about the EU policy landscape and the update of the Bioeconomy Strategy
- Tomasz Calikowski (EC, DG Research), who spoke about Green Transition and Bioeconomy Governance: The Role of Bio-Based Sector R&D
The event, which was highly participatory and very well received, aimed to present the results obtained by the projects in relation to aspects of regional policy advocacy to promote the bioeconomy, with a dedicated and practical focus on four top priority themes identified by the projects during their implementation:
- Governance and Policy Alignment
- Social and Regional Challenges and Public Awareness
- Cross-Sectoral Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Environmental Impact and Resource Efficiency
The workshop allowed those responsible for other European projects to gather valuable information regarding actions for the identification, analysis, design, and implementation of regional policies and governance models that could enrich their own initiatives in these areas.
